"Staff Picked"

4 levels are currently "Staff Picked". It looks cool but... How does it work? Are mods randomly selecting levels in their super secret moderator forum?

We're weekly picking a level the staff is particularly liking.
Said level gets marked as "Staff Picked" then.
I wouldn't say that it's random as we're actually playing the most recent levels and decide which one to choose.

I have a question: does it matter how old or new the level is when picking it?

Right now only three levels are marked as "Featured" or "Staff Picked", namely JRFD's SMB World 1-4 and Lost in the Dark, as well as FF's Snowman's Adventure. Or did I overlook something?
Also, what are the "points" being shown on top of your portal profile?

Not at all. Both older and newer levels get chosen rather equally as of now. However. We may end up being a bit behind the time. So it's more unlikely that a level gets picked on the same day it was submitted, than a level which is around for a few days already.

I haven't noticed any changes for months and I'm wondering if any changes are considered at all.
I mean, you're not forced to change something weekly by any means, but I would appreciate it if some newer levels might occasionally get a chance.

To be honest, this fact has been bothering me for a long while. The LL Level Portal almost feels dead, except for the occasionally submitted level or two.
