Minimum wall thickness to block off Mages' teleport range?

I have noticed how a Mage can only teleport through walls and ceilings if the player is close enough to the actual enemy. It is indeed random WHEN the Mage decides to teleport through it to come for you, but what I don't think has been answered yet is HOW FAR exactly you need to be for the Mage to notice you.

I kinda need to know this because the boss I'm working on sometimes gets messed up when a Mage that hasn't been "spawned" yet decides to teleport through the walls when uncalled for. It would be nice to know what thickness, in tiles, is the minimum before a Mage can know to teleport to you from the other side (assuming you are always hugging that wall).



Btw, I'm using Null Space: RC2.

It won't care about walls. No matter how thick they are. But I'm not quite sure about their reaction range. I suppose it was something around 12-14 tiles á 32p each.

However. It's not that much of a problem to prevent them to cause problems for you. Simply move the mage himself by relative x=0 and y=0.
It will certainly stay at it's current position until you stop that movement which won't cause anything but to reset the mage over and over again. I did this for my boss, in order to give him an actual hitbox
(Floating invisible crab and this reset offered even a custom health bar. ; ))

In case there are other problems, don't mind asking.

Thank you. I did know about the "relative movement" trick (I used it in a couple other areas of the same level), but I didn't know if it worked for Mages too. I thought they'd still be able teleport, even if the 1-frame sleep may give it the slightest time, but it looks like they can't, taking into consideration what you said.
