What good is it to set an awesome record when you have nothing to benefit from it in-game? Not only would it be fun to race yourself, but this could encourage players to replay each level and feel more satisfied.

What about a manually-created replay ghost--whether you were fast or slow--but had done something amazing that you wanted to show your friends? This could also allow for easy access to speedrun duels with others around you/friends. The more features, the merrier.

Oh wow, totally digging this idea. It would be even better if you could beat ghosts from other people online and break their records.
