I think Oranjuice has been playing Banjo Kazooie lately, somehow that reminds me of Click Clock Wood.

but yeah that sounds like a good idea

Well, "No trigger" is a bit too much restriction. Classic, simple triggers like Touch-and-go for platforms, instructive signs and changing music should stay allowed, while advanced triggers like branching, weather effects, battle rooms (Dimension 10) and any kind of puzzle-supporting triggers should be disallowed. That would be a contest for levels where you really focus on pure platformer action and good graphics.

In that case, let's make a "Pure Platformer" Contest where you can still use a lot of complex triggers if you want, as long as it does not affect negatively your level.

The 16th SM63 LDC was music-themed, in the sense that you had to pick a song outside of any games. This should be cool for LL as well.

Recycling some of the old SM63 LDC themes might be cool. Like the Science theme, or Music, or Death, or even something Mario-related might be fun just for the hell of it, even though LL isn't related to Mario.

Also, I was not, in fact, playing Banjo Kazooie when I posted that :p
